Ricky Lee Voss passed away at his home on Thursday, August 20, 2020. He was 70 years old.
Rick was born November 5, 1949 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Ardene (Bacon) Voss and Clarence Voss. He grew up in the Sioux Falls area and attended Baltic High School.
Rick worked many years for the Minnehaha County Highway Department. Moving to the Black Hills of South Dakota, Rick went to work for Central States Fair/Black Hills Stock Show, where he made many lifelong friends. After working several years for CSF, Rick became employed by the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center providing maintenance for this facility. Rick retired from Rushmore Plaza Civic Center but continued to do small maintenance jobs.
Everyone looked for Rick’s smiling face, positive attitude and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was a skilled, hard-working man. He was also an avid race car fan, whether it be Nascar, Sprint Cars, or the drags. It really didn’t matter as long as it went fast. He also enjoyed the great outdoors and went on many trail rides with his trusty horse Jack. He also loved hunting, camping or just sitting around the fire drinking “cowboy coffee”.
Rick is survived by his partner and best friend, Kathy Winkler; his daughter, Tracy (Sam) White; son, Chad (Tammi) Voss; and sister, Pam (Joe) Michaeli. He was the proud grandpa of Mandi, Cole, Zachary and Alysen, great-grandpa to Violet and Fitz, loving uncle to Michelle, Matt and Mike and amazing great uncle to Amirah, Ariel and Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his mom, Ardene; his dad, Clarence; his beautiful grand-daughter, Alysen; his faithful companion, Outlaw and his trusty horse, Jack.
Darlin’ we love you and we will miss you forever!
