Violet Mae Johnson was born on November 13, 1927 to Anton and Esther (Braaten) Johnson in Bryant SD.

Violet married Robert J. Brown and together they had 5 children; Annette, Deborah, Denise, Brian, and Julie.

She later married Arthur F. Miles and together they had 1 child, Lisa.

Violet worked as a seamstress most of her life and, after retirement, enjoyed gardening and loved watching her children’s families grow.

Violet peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls SD surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 siblings; Alvin Johnson, Gerald (Judd) Johnson, Evelyn Mellenberndt, Arline Miller, Wanda Theye, Maynard Johnson, Mavis Vincent, James Johnson, and Judy Knowles, and 2 daughters; Annette (Dallas) Bovey, Apache Junction AZ, and Deborah (Rick) Wickstrom, Beresford SD.

She is survived by 1 brother; Grant Johnson, Waterford MI, 4 children; Denise (Doug) McGregor, Fennville MI, Brian (Tracy Kerbo) Brown, Worthing SD, Julie Brown, Sioux Falls SD, and Lisa (Paul) Sand, Canton SD, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren plus loving nieces and nephews.
