Service: Visitation will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church Monday, August 10, 2020, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Bill's funeral mass will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.

William “Bill” Huggett, 53, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at Dougherty Hospice House on August 5, 2020.

William “Bill” Huggett, 53, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at Dougherty Hospice House on August 5, 2020.

William (Bill) Huggett was born on January 28, 1967 to William and Yvonne Huggett.  Bill grew up in Crookston, MN and graduated from Crookston High School in 1985.  After graduating college Bill enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country from 1990-1993.  Bill continued his education and obtained his maters in history education from Northern State University in 1998.

Bill married the love of his life, Christy Spier on August 27, 1999 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. As a couple Bill and Christy enjoyed attending Stampede hockey games together, bowling and so appreciated each other’s company.

Bill loved working at the Veterans Affairs (VA) as a legal specialist and had been with the Sioux Falls VA since 2001.

Bill had a humble and generous heart and enjoyed giving back to others, especially working with former POWs and helping Veterans.

Bill’s funeral mass will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.In an effort of keeping everyone safe and to comply with CDC recommendations, Bill’s family requests all guests to wear masks while attending the visitation and funeral service.Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife, Christy Huggett; and father Bill (Sandi) Huggett; his brothers, Robert, Thomas (Ayumi); sister in law, Karen (Mike) Heida; nieces and nephews, Henry, Heather (Calvin), Kassi, Robert (Rachel), Tammy (Mike) and many aunts, uncles, and great nieces and nephews.

He as preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne; in laws, Lenard and Avis Spier; his grandparents, William and Esher Huggett, Lawrence and Ann Geis; his brother in law, Craig Spier.In lieu of flowers, kindly direct memorials to the Harrisburg American Legion Post 45.
