Myron Elroy Bunger, age 86, passed away early in the morning on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg, SD. He was born the oldest child of Harm
and Minnie (Kock) Bunger on October 22, 1937, in Lennox, SD. He spent his childhood on farms in the area and graduated from Lennox High School. He went on to serve for
four years in the US Army. On July 1, 1964, he was married to Peggy Jean Schroeder, and they settled on a small hobby farm east of Harrisburg to raise their family.
After working over thirty years at John Morrell’s in Sioux Falls, Myron retired and made time to pursue several hobbies and volunteer work. He helped out with the Butterfly
House and Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls. He enjoyed mowing the grounds and working with friends at the Granite, IA Threshing Bee, which led to restoring antique
tractors, specifically Massy-Ferguson. At home, he always had a project to tinker with and he took great pleasure in feeding the wild birds from his deck all year round. He and
his brother Ron would often attend farm auctions and he even tried his hand at golfing.
He spent his last 18 months in the nursing home in Viborg where he enjoyed listening to cowboy guitar music, eating dessert, and watching people come and go from his
window seat overlooking the entrance. His friendly wave brought smiles to many faces.
Myron is survived by two sons, Daron Bunger of Harrisburg, and Layne (Bonnie) Bunger of Sioux Falls, a daughter, Niki Anderson, Sioux Falls, as well as eight grandchildren.
He has a sister, Veloris (Maurice) Christiansen, Viborg and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, his son Damon and a brother, Ronald.
Myron will be greatly missed by the countless friends, neighbors, and relatives whose lives he touched along the way.
