Robert (Bob) Lind

Service: Funeral Services will be held 3:00pm Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Harrisburg United Methodist Church.  Visitation with family present will be held 1:00-3:00pm with family present at the church.

Robert (Bob) Lind passed away November 30, 2024 surrounded by his family at the age of 88.

Robert Lloyd Lind was born on September 3, 1936 to Lloyd and Marjorie (Gerber) Lind. Bob grew up in the Worthing area graduating from Worthing High School in 1954. He married Deloris Pierson on September 27, 1958.

Bob was employed by John Morrell & Company for 34 years and retired from there to continue farming. Farming was in Bob’s life from the very beginning and was his passion.

Bob and Deloris Lind lived in Harrisburg until 1974. In Harrisburg he served as Mayor and Fire Department Chief. Bob and Deloris then built a new home on family land south of Worthing. Bob was active on the Worthing Fire Department as well. Bob enjoyed camping, trapshooting, restoring tractors, and his 1955 Buicks.

Bob and Deloris wintered in Texas for many years, making memories and many friends. They enjoyed time at the cabin on Lake Hendricks.

Grateful for sharing his life is his daughter Janell Zahn of Harrisburg, son Brian Lind of Harrisburg, grandson Aaron Zahn (Lisa), grandson Avery Zahn, granddaughter Ashley Blitsch (Michael). Great grandchildren Caleb, Stephen, Madeline, Paisley, and Everly. Sister Mary Schriever of Sioux Falls, along with numerous family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris, parents, brother Don Lind, sister Barb Butenschoen, and son in law George Zahn.

In lieu of flowers please consider memorials to your local FFA chapter or your local Fire Department.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00pm Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Harrisburg United Methodist Church.  Visitation with family present will be held 1:00-3:00pm with family present at the church. Interment will be held 10:30 Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Worthing Cemetery.
