Vernon Lloyd Feekes, son of Ted and Grace (Lems) Feekes was born January 20, 1946 seven miles west of Sioux Center, IA. He attended school grades 1-8 at Beloit Country School then Canton High School grades 9-12.

Vernon started working for Larson Truck Sales in 1977 and retired March 2023 at the age of 77, following 46 years of loyal service. Vern loved his job and didn’t really consider it going to work. Vern started hot air ballooning in 1991 and became a commercial hot air balloon pilot. He logged almost 1000 flights and enjoyed every one of them. A lot of friends were made in the course of ballooning.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Grace; brothers, Howard, Russell and LeRoy.
Vern wants everyone to know he loved his life and enjoyed every moment. Vern wants to thank his family, friends and Julie Ann Ruud the love of his life. Vern lived his life with no regrets.

Vern was a customer of mine for close to 30 years. when we talked it was about work. After a while it was work and baseball. and then it was work, baseball, and family, maybe not in that order? Vern would never get upset or rattled. He always said problems can be fixed and no sense worrying about them. he always talked about how much he loved his job and working for the Larson family. me and my team members here said he was our favorite customer. he will be missed by everyone that knew him. my condolences to Vern’s family.
So so sorry for your loss . Vern will be missed by all . We’ll keep the Family in our Heart and Prayers
My deepest condolences to your family. I only met Vern a few times, but each time he was such a nice bunny guy who seemed to care about everybody in his life. I know my sister Jessica loved him very much.
Julie, I was so sorry to hear of Vern’s passing. After I saw you guys last year about this time, I thought of him often and wondered how both of you were doing! May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
(I will look forward to seeing you engaging in some retail therapy at Dillard’s, where I’m working now.)
