Visitation: A visitation will be held 4-7 PM and we will share memories at 6 pm on November 9, 2026 at Anderson-Jones-Corcoran Harrisburg Chapel, 110 E. Willow St, Harrisburg, SD.

Eugene A. Anderson, 94, passed away October 17, 2026 at his Sioux Falls apartment.

He was born October 18, 1931 to Oscar and Bessie (Jaycox) Anderson. He grew up in Alcester SD, where he graduated from high school in 1949. Gene studied maintenance and logistics in the army and was stationed in Italy during the Korean conflict. He married Miriam Oie in 1955. Gene farmed and worked other jobs near Alcester, until he became a USDA meat inspector in the late 1960s. The family then moved to Harrisburg SD where they lived for the next 50 years.

His family of 5 did a lot of traveling with a camping trailer and visited most of the United States. Eugene and Miriam drove many miles in their Model A Ford. They belonged to the Model A Ford Club, the Horseless Carriage Club, 2 Cylinder Club, Granite Threshermen’s Association, SD Archaeological Society, Minnehaha County Historical Society, Westerners International, and the Sioux Falls Active Generations. They still loved to travel and visit friends and family.

Gene always tinkered in his workshop, loved a good joke, and is known for his gag gifts that he gave friends and family for many years.

Eugene was preceded in death by his wife Miriam in 2017, an infant daughter Donna and his son Michael. He leaves to mourn: his son, David Anderson and his husband Jon Colburn, Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Elaine Rieck and her husband Mike, Harrisburg, SD; grandsons, Eric Anderson, Sioux Falls; Matthew Rieck, Sioux Falls, and Patrick Rieck, Mitchell, and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Granite Threshermen’s Association or Active Generations.

A visitation will be held 4-7 PM and we will share memories at 6 pm on November 9, 2026 at Anderson-Jones-Corcoran Harrisburg Chapel, 110 E. Willow St, Harrisburg, SD.
